Established over 16 years ago by Guiseppe Turi, Enoteca Turi is now a landmark in Putney, maintaining its authority as Putney’s culinary tour de force while lots of newcomers and developments have arrived in SW15 over the years. Locals, including local Italians, rave enthusiastically aboutif you fancy a treat to welcome in the New Year, or to ward off the January blues, then I would highly recommend you visit Enoteca Turi also.
They believe that the magic of Italian cuisine is kept alive by Italian restaurants true to their craft who nurture tradition and respect Italy’s history, culture, climate and geography. A major part of this authentic approach is the award-winning wine list (Most Exceptional Wine list, ITV Restaurant Awards) – from which they have selected wine served by the glass to perfectly complement your chosen dish. We decided to go with their wise choices.
For starters we shared a plat of antipasto Pugliese, delicious grilled vegetables, most prettily served with a green fava bean puree. When you go, have a plate each. Chosen wine: Rosato DOC from Tuscany. My main course of Malfatti – spinach and ricotta Lombardy gnocchi, a speciality dish - with butter and sage was perfect – creamy and filling. Chosen wine: Falanghina Sannio DOC from Campania. Lucille’s breast of duck served with stuffed Savoy cabbage and dumplings was pronounced perfect. Chosen wine: Primitivo Vigne Vecchie IGT from Puglia.
Presentation is impressive, service friendly and helpful and the décor is stylish without being flash or imposing. Being Italian the restaurant is child-friendly and there is a private room for parties.
