Vaughan in Wandsworth
Capital Radio DJ and local resident Johnny Vaughan recently paid a visit to the Rainbow School for Autistic Children in Wandsworth. The project is funded by Help a London Child, who recently granted £2,300 for equipment essential in helping pupils acquire daily living skills. Johnny commented, “Visiting the Rainbow School was absolutely incredible. The level of one-on-one care and individual support that each child receives means that many of these kids are able to be placed into main stream schooling. This to me is revolutionary.”

Thrive in Battersea
The Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Jim Madden, joined representatives of Thrive’s Battersea Garden Project at its Battersea Flower Show to receive a cheque for £5000, which was donated by QVC. The leading shopping channel is providing support towards the cost of additional staffing at the project, which has announced plans to extend its current work in Battersea Park by involving local gardeners with a range of disabilities to use their gardening skills to benefit the local community.

J for jolly time had by all
Our very own Jessica and colleagues enjoyed a themed party at Lost Society (recently voted London’s best bar, and just at the end of the road from our offices). Everyone had to dress up as something beginning with J – residents of Battersea were impressed by the sight of James Bond, Jack Sparrow, Johnny Cash, John Wayne, and Josie and the Pussycats randomly striking out down Lavender Hill in the wee small hours.
