October
SW's October edition reviews the hottest parties in the area, including glittering events at the Hurlingham Club, Darlings of Chelsea, SW4 and Duke on the Green.
Beautiful people at The Hurlingham Club
The motor-minded gathered at Fulham’s beautiful Hurlingham Club this July for a day amidst some of the world’s most desirable automobiles. On show at the first Salon Privé were striking vehicles from manufacturers including Maybach, Lamborghini, Bugatti and Rolls-Royce, as well as the latest Racetrack Legend Series of Vertu mobile phones, made of precious gems and liquid metal alloys and with a starting price of £2,900. Pockets were emptied almost as quickly as glasses, and guests danced into the night at the Hurlingham’s own nightclub.

Fulham Showroom Opening
To celebrate the launch of their new showroom at 9-13 Fulham High Street, furniture retailers Darlings of Chelsea threw a party on the premises which saw press and trade figures rub shoulders with customers and proprietors of other local businesses. Hugh Vyvyan, captain of Saracens Rugby Club, and his ex-England and club colleague Dan Scarborough, also came along to wish the new store a prosperous future.

SW4 festival success
August 26 saw the return of The Metro Weekender’s Southwest 4 Festival to Clapham Common, bringing with it the cream of the international DJ circuit and about 20,000 happy revellers. Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold and Pete Tong were some of the big star names on offer, and the SW staff were among the party-goers who made this SW4 one of the best yet.

Local restaurateur’s TV appearance
Neil Dunning, manager of Fulham’s own Duke on the Green, met up with Jamie Oliver recently to take part in Jamie’s new programme, Apron Strings. The show features insider information about the complexities of running a successful restaurant and still having a great family life – a subject on which Neil, it seems, is something of an expert.
