    • 4. Alum Chine Beach

      • Conclusion

Are you planning a trip to Bournemouth with your furry friend? Well, we’ve got some great news for you! Bournemouth is home to several dog-friendly beaches where your pup can run wild and free while enjoying the beautiful sea views. However, it’s important to note that not all beaches in the area are pet-friendly, which is why we have compiled a list of the top five dog-friendly beaches in Bournemouth along with their restrictions so that both you and your four-legged companion can make the most out of your beach experience. So pack up those toys, grab a leash (just in case), and get ready for some fun under the sun with our guide to Bournemouth’s best dog-friendly beaches!

Best Dog Friendly Beaches in Bournemouth – Top 5 With Their Restrictions

1. Durley Chine Beach

Best Dog Friendly Beaches in Bournemouth - Top 5 With Their Restrictions (Map Included)

Durley Chine Beach is a must-visit for dog owners looking to enjoy a day out with their furry friends. As another Blue Flag winner, this beach boasts beautifully soft sand and a unique entrance through the wooded area surrounding Chine. It’s a refreshing change from the usual town or city centre views.

What makes Durley Chine Beach even more special is that dogs are welcome year-round. However, during the warmer months between May and September, there are restrictions on where they can go. Dogs are only allowed on the section of the beach between Groynes 5 and 7 during this time, so it’s important to check before you travel.

Despite these restrictions in place, there’s still plenty of space for you and your four-legged friend to play around and enjoy yourselves in the permitted area. And when outside of the warmer months, your pup has free access to the entire beach!

In addition to its stunning natural beauty, Durley Chine Beach also offers convenient facilities nearby such as toilets, drinking water points, a beach shop/kiosk and cafes/restaurants. Plus if needed wheelchairs can be hired from here too.

With lifeguards available from May to September as well as easy accessibility via West Undercliff Promenade at BH2 5JF address – Durley Chine Beach ticks all boxes for an enjoyable day out by all means!

2. Boscombe Pier

dog friendly beaches bournemouth

Boscombe Pier is a hub for tourists and locals alike, thanks to its golden sandy beach and good water quality. The availability of various facilities such as mini-golf, table tennis, volleyball, cafes, the best restaurants and beach huts makes it an ideal spot for families to enjoy their day out.

Besides the beautiful view of the sea from the pier on clear days that allows spotting the Isle of Wight in the distance adds up to its charm. Those who want to explore more can take advantage of the land train available from Bournemouth’s Pier which takes you around Boscombe and nearby areas.

However, during summer months when the beach gets crowded with visitors enjoying these amenities, dogs are not allowed on this dog-friendly beach between May 1st and September 30th. But don’t worry! Once autumn arrives along with winter months it becomes a great place for dog owners too.

Lifeguards ensure safety along with other facilities like car parks, promenade makes it an enjoyable experience overall. So if you’re looking for a lively atmosphere at the seaside that’s also practical enough for family fun days or solo walks then head down to Boscombe Pier – just remember your lead outside summer season!

3. Southbourne Beach

Southbourne Beach

Southbourne Beach is one of the best beaches in the South West region and a popular choice among local pet owners due to its welcoming nature towards dogs. The beach may not be the most lively place, but it’s definitely worth visiting as it offers stunning views all year round. However, make sure you clean up after your furry friend!

Apart from being dog-friendly, Southbourne Beach also has a dedicated barbecue zone that can accommodate evening gatherings. Keep in mind that if you plan on entertaining more than 30 guests, submitting an application to the local council is necessary.

Dog lovers will be delighted to know that their four-legged companions are welcome throughout the year on this beach up to Groyne 41. If you venture further along the beachfront past Groyne 45, there’s another segment where dogs are permitted.

Additionally, Southbourne Beach has several facilities nearby such as toilet facilities and outdoor showers for visitors’ convenience. Those who want some extra comfort while relaxing at the beach can rent deck chairs or huts available at the premises.

Lifeguards patrol Southbourne Beach from May to September for added safety measures during peak season times.

4. Alum Chine Beach

Alum Chine Beach

Alum Chine Beach is a hidden gem that provides the perfect escape for pet owners and their furry friends. This beach may not be as close to the town centre as others, but this actually makes it more appealing for those seeking a quieter spot with fewer crowds.

Dogs are welcome on all parts of Alum Chine Beach year-round, which is great news for those who want to enjoy the sand and sea no matter what time of year it is. However, from May to September, dogs are only permitted in certain areas so make sure to keep an eye out for regulations before letting your pup off its lead.

Dogs are permitted to roam freely between the Branksome Dene Chine beach border and the Alum Chine beach office (Groyne 3). Even though you may want to pack a leash just in case you go elsewhere, there’s plenty of space here for everyone – families, friends and pets alike – to take long walks along the shore regardless of weather conditions.

Aside from its natural beauty and dog-friendly environment, Alum Chine Beach also offers several facilities nearby including toilet facilities, a beach kiosk where you can grab some refreshments or snacks while enjoying your day out at sea and drinking water points scattered across the area. There are outdoor showers available too if you need them after taking a refreshing dip!

If you have extra time during your visit to Bournemouth’s beaches then make sure to check out other dog-friendly activities around town! But rest assured that spending quality time with your pet at one of Bournemouth’s best-kept secrets like Alum Chine will be an experience neither one of you will forget anytime soon!

5. Avon Beach

Avon Beach

Avon Beach is one of the most popular Bournemouth beaches for families looking for a fun day out. With plenty of facilities, such as beach huts and sun loungers, restaurants and cafes nearby, this classic beach has everything you need to enjoy your time by the sea.

The beach itself is mostly sand with occasional shingle areas that add to its natural beauty. Your furry friends will also love running around on the sands, whether on or off the lead. However, it’s important to note that dogs are not allowed on Avon Beach from May to September due to seasonal restrictions.

But don’t let that stop you from visiting during other months! The autumn and winter months offer amazing views of the coast with plenty of space for you and your doggo to explore without any crowds around.

In addition to stunning scenery, Avon Beach also boasts a promenade lined with various amenities like car parks, toilets, showers, disabled facilities and even first aid points if needed. So pack up your family (and pup!) for a lovely day out at Avon Beach in Christchurch.

Conclusion

Bournemouth truly offers some of the best dog-friendly beaches in Dorset. Whether you are looking for a quiet spot to walk your furry friend or a lively beach with plenty of facilities, Bournemouth has it all. From Alum Chine Beach to Boscombe Pier, each beach has its own unique charm and restrictions when it comes to dogs.

It’s important to remember that not all beaches in Dorset allow dogs year-round or at all times of the day. It’s always best to check before visiting so that you and your pup can have the best experience possible without any unpleasant surprises.

Bournemouth is a great destination for pet owners looking for an enjoyable seaside getaway with their furry friends. With plenty of dog-friendly beaches and walking routes available, there are endless opportunities for exploration and adventure along the stunning coastline. So why wait? Grab your leash and head out for some fun in the sun!
